As summer comes to a close, millions of birds migrate from Northern and Central Europe, over the Balkan Peninsula, towards Africa. Sadly enough, many of them will never end their journey. They often become victims of hunting and of poaching.
Quails, a delicacy in Italy, is amongst the most popular birds for hunting. This is one of the reasons an increasing number of Italian hunters travel to the Western Balkans. This would not have been an issue had it not been for the use of illegal hunting devices.
We, as a group of journalists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy and the Netherlands, investigate the use of illegal hunting devices. Poachers hunt birds. We hunt poachers.
