In Bosnia and Herzegovina, couples having problems conceiving have the right to three to five in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures. This right is in the RS and the FBiH guaranteed by two laws and the Decision in Brčko District. However, women without partners and same-sex couples are left out.
That is why they travel to other countries and spend large amounts of money. The precondition for IVF is that the healthcare system allows women without partners to enter the process. One procedure costs up to EUR 11,000.
